Job Description Job Description Job Title: Phlebotomist II - Liverpool Float Job Description We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team in Liverpool as a float. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, and other related tasks. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens in accordance with established procedures and ensuring accurate patient information is recorded and updated. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand and follow all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimens during transport. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Work Environment The position is based in Liverpool and involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. The role requires adherence to OSHA and DEP regulations and participation in annual department trainings. You will be expected to demonstrate proper techniques and maintain specimen integrity during transport. The work environment involves interacting with patients and handling inquiries efficiently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Liverpool, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
