Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: CVICU - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 12/15/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring a MD or compact RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIH, and CPI certifications. Responsibilities - Work in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting - Rotating 12-hour shifts: days (07:00-19:30) and nights (19:00-07:30) - Expected to work every third weekend and scheduled holidays - Mandatory floating to MSICU as needed, with travelers first to float - On-call required for 24-32 hours per rotating 8-week schedule - Unit has 6 beds with an average daily census of 3-5 and a 1:2 nurse-patient ratio - Typical patient population includes post-operative cardiac surgery patients, cardiac surgery re-admissions, ICU bounce-backs, structural heart procedures, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, and advanced cardiac device support - Unit performs specialized procedures including ECMO, CRRT, Impella, IABP, Inari, and management of open chests and hemodynamic instability - Provide specialized care for critically ill cardiac patients in the immediate post-operative phase and during advanced cardiac interventions - Must be comfortable managing complex cardiovascular devices and supporting critically ill patients with conditions such as extreme coagulopathy or hemodynamic instability - Mandatory holiday coverage as scheduled by the unit - Travelers must be comfortable floating as required within their scope of practice - Return travelers must have a 6-month break from any prior assignment, and former staff must be gone for at least 12 months to be eligible - Request for time off (RTO) must not exceed 7 days and must be submitted at the time of application; more than 4 consecutive days of RTO will result in an extension of the contract - Extension of contracts is generally permitted once, with a subsequent 6-month break required before returning - No schedule restrictions or block scheduling requests will be accommodated Requirements - Active MD or compact state RN license required at time of application - Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required - BLS and ACLS (AHA only), NIH Stroke Scale, and CPI certifications required - OCN and TCNN certifications preferred - Must provide two satisfactory professional references from most recent employers, including at least one from a supervisor or manager and one from a charge RN - No local candidates within 50 miles of the facility will be considered - First-time travelers with CVICU experience will be accepted Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-639243.
