Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years minimum required License: Valid state license required Certifications: Sterile reprocessing certification required Must-Have: IAHCSMM/HSPA certification required Endoscope reprocessing certification preferred Description: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. The position requires knowledge of chemical agents for decontamination and proper cleaning techniques. Candidates should be familiar with using sterilizers and ultrasonic cleaners. The role involves organizing and placing instruments on trays, ensuring proper labeling and selection of wrapping materials. Experience in high-level disinfection (HLD) and manual cleaning is essential. Knowledge of various scopes and probe reprocessing is required. Familiarity with biological and chemical indicators, as well as steam sterilization testing and monitoring, is needed. The technician will document equipment usage and maintain compliance with sterilization protocols. Candidates must have experience in acute hospital settings with various surgical specialties. On-call duties may be required every 6 weeks, along with weekend commitments every 6 weekends.
