Associate Director of Food ServiceJob Summary
The Associate Director of Food Service role is an integral part of
the Operations team, ensuring that KIPP DC's food and nutrition
program operates optimally, providing healthy, appealing, and
compliant meals to students daily. The starting salary range for
this role is $103,491-$114,384. This is a full-time, occasional
flexible role based at Headquarters with an anticipated start date
of July 1, 2025.

About the Role
The Associate Director of Food Service will support all KIPP DC's
campuses by providing administrative and logistical support and
oversight of the organization's food and nutrition services. This
includes, but is not limited to, training staff and other
responsibilities as needed related to the National School Lunch
Program.
Location and Type of Work
This is an exemptposition and will report to the Senior Director of
Food Service. As a headquarters team that is focused on being
responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and
families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these
priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families
rely on us for in-person support, and this position will regularly
provide on-site support to school teams, frequently partner with
other headquarters teams, or regularly work in multiple locations.
Because of the nature of the work, this role allows for occasional
flexibility and will be required to be onsite 4 days per week.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Team Development (30% of time)
- Recruit, train, and mentor meal program staff, setting
performance standards and fostering a culture of accountability and
growth.
- Develop and implement annual training for Lunch Administrators
on National School Lunch Program compliance, Civil Rights, and
specialty topics.
- Coach and provide feedback to regional operations teams to
strengthen program outcomes.Program Monitoring and Compliance (30%
of time)
- Conduct regular school meal program audits and observations to
ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee data collection and analysis for meal program
participation and financial claims, implementing corrective action
plans as necessary.
- Track grant and program budgets, ensuring accurate and timely
claims submission for initiatives such as the FFVP.
- Maintain program's asset management tools to ensure risk
mitigation.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to monitor food service
delivery, resolve issues, and align services with program
goals.
- Serve as the main point of contact for school-based Directors
of Operations, providing guidance and support for meal program
initiatives.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between schools,
vendors, and KIPP DC's regional teams.Strategic Planning and
Special Projects (20% of time)
- Lead special projects, including pilot programs, procurement
processes, and menu development initiatives, ensuring continuous
improvement and innovation.
- Design and conduct student surveys and focus groups to enhance
meal program participation and inform strategic decisions.
Requirements & PreferencesRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 5 years of experience in project management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google Suite (Google Docs, sheets,
Slides and Forms)
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external
partnersPreferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Previous experience in PK-12 settings
- At least 2 years relevant experience in school nutrition
programs
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing
school food programs, including those set by the Food and Nutrition
Service (FNS) under the National School Lunch Program
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with the
ability to create an inclusive and culturally responsive food

- The anticipated starting salary range for this position is

- Currently, individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off
days, up to 10 paid sick days, 12 paid holidays, and paid
Thanksgiving week break, and winter break. This is subject to
