Job Description Job Description Who we are: The German
International School Washington D.C. is a leading international
school in the Washington DC metro area. For over 60 years, GISW has
been teaching children from preschool through twelfth grade. Aside
from being the first MINTEC certified school in the USA, GISW
offers a U.S. High School Diploma as well as a German International
Abitur (DIA) to its students. The German International School
Washington D.C. is seeking a full-time teacher for German with any
other subject at the Upper School for Grades 5-12. Opening 2026/27
school year General Information - This position consists of 23.5
instructional hours per week and includes associated duties outside
of the classroom (preparation, grading, supervision, responding to
parents, meetings, events) - The teacher instructs students in
Grades 5-12 in accordance with the following provisions:P -school
curriculum -curricula according to provisions by the German
International Abitur Exam (Deutschen Internationale Abiturprüfung)
- Pay Range: $65,108 - $96,613 per school year Description Duties
include: - Individual and small-group instruction, adapting the
curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities. -
Compliance with all guidelines and rules; working with other German
Schools Abroad. - Preparation, administration and grading of tests,
exams, and assignments to evaluate students’ progress. Preparation
of lessons and materials for class activities. - Creation and
management of accurate and complete student records as required by
laws and administrative regulations. - Enforcement of all policies
and rules governing students; maintaining appropriate discipline. -
Observation and evaluation of student performance, behavior, social
development, and physical health. - Meetings to confer with parents
and guardians to discuss their children’s progress and to offer
guidance for their development. - Participation in school working
groups, especially in the area of Quality Management - Willingness
to incorporate non-school events/opportunities into the curriculum
(e. g. theater, museums) Requirements - Fluency in English, both
verbal and written - Fluency in German, both verbal and written -
Second State Examination, US Master degree in relevant field or
comparable degree - Must be able to conduct Spanish Abitur Exams -
Teaching experience in grades 5-12 highly preferred - Authorized to
