Job Description:
Accounting Operations Manager- Hybrid in Hanover, MD About the
Company and Overview of the Accounting Manager role: CFS is
partnering with a non profit client to find an Accounting Manager
to join their medium sized accounting team The Accounting Manager
position begins on a contractual basis and will become permanent
for the right candidate. This person must have strong
leadership/mentorship experience and be able to communicate
effectively with internal employees and external clients.
Accounting team is described as diverse, very friendly, and
outgoing! Schedule: Flexible start time between 7am-9am (core hours
are 9-3:30pm). Work an 8 hour schedule, 40 hours per week! Position
is hybrid in Hanover, MD; 3 days work from home, 2 days in office.
Reports directly to the CFO Salary $95,000 - $105,000 depending on
experience Job Duties of the Accounting Manager: Supervise a small
team of accounting professionals, overseeing accounts payable and
cash disbursement operations Review and authorize corporate credit
card expenditures, managing related systems and processes Monitor
cash balances via online banking platforms and advise on
recommended intercompany transfers; act as the primary contact for
banking and investment service providers regarding agreements and
fees Evaluate and post journal entries prepared by finance staff on
a monthly and quarterly basis, including accruals, allocations,
depreciation, recurring, and adjusting entries Review
reconciliations of various accounts-such as cash, payables, and
liabilities-performed by team members on a monthly, quarterly, and
annual basis Oversee the preparation of audit and tax documentation
for external auditors to support a smooth audit process Review
draft audit workpapers to confirm alignment with GAAP; assist with
the preparation of IRS Forms Contribute to the annual budgeting
process Deliver financial onboarding to new employees and lead or
support training sessions on updates to financial procedures,
policies, and systems for all personnel Conduct financial analyses
and develop custom reports and schedules as needed Lead or support
special initiatives and perform additional responsibilities as
assigned Qualifications for the Accounting Manager: Bachelor's
degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required; MBA or CPA
preferred 5 years' experience with non profit accounting preferred
Experience with month end close, financial statement prep, audits,
and automating accounting systems highly preferred 5 years'
supervisory and leadership experience required Proficiency with
Excel required (pivot tables and vlookup) Experience using
Microsoft Business Central a plus, but not required Strong GAAP
