Director of Audit Location: Laurel, MD (On-Site) Compensation: Up to $150,000 Bonus Reports To: Chief Financial Officer Are you an experienced audit leader ready to make a strategic impact? A well-established and growing commercial real estate company in Laurel, Maryland is seeking a Director of Audit to lead internal audit functions, ensure compliance, and strengthen risk management across the organization. This high-visibility role reports directly to the CFO and offers a unique opportunity to influence key financial and operational processes in a fast-paced, asset-driven environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute the company's internal audit strategy, policies, and annual audit plan Lead operational, financial, and compliance audits across the portfolio Identify process and control gaps; provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risk Collaborate with cross-functional teams, external auditors, and regulatory agencies Provide reporting and insights to senior leadership, including the CFO and executive team Monitor adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and industry best practices Lead and mentor audit staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CIA strongly preferred) 8 years of progressive audit experience, including management roles Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance Prior experience in real estate, construction, or asset-intensive industries preferred Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills Comfortable working fully on-site in Laurel, MD This is a full-time, in-office role with a competitive base salary up to $150K plus performance-based bonus and strong benefits.
